STUTZ ARTISTS OPEN HOUSE

My boyfriend and I attended the Stutz Artists Open House today. It was incredible! There were four floors full of such a diverse group of artists. I have never even heard of this place before...a fantastic new discovery.

Finger Paintings by Jane Knight visit Her Blog
My boyfriend...just hanging out.
Fascinator buddies! I loved this woman, her name is Judith Sturges and she had artwork of rabbits and corgis! My two favorite animals.
Artist Julie Perigo  (I actually bought one of her beautiful prints...too cool!)

These things were so weird that they stuck in my mind the whole day. Artist Julie Perigo
My favorite artist of the day, Mallory Marty (artwork below) She was nice, fashionable, and extremely talented!
Her website.

Mallory is interested in the sensuality and symbolism of costumes and disguises. The images of corsets play with sexuality and feminine identity.

All in all, it was a spectacular day. Viewing so many different works of art and meeting so many new artists is really exhausting...I can kind of imagine how most of the artists felt at the opening. It really drains your energy.

I forgot to mention that I stopped by to view Travis Little's work as well. He is an insanely talented local artist that creates oil painting/pastels that will fool you into thinking that they are photos at first glance, yeah...they are THAT GOOD. I would seriously advise checking out his website to see what I am getting at.

How cool! I respect art so much. Thanks for sharing these. Coincidentally, while I was in NYC today, I stopped in at the International Center For Photography which is my favorite museum for photography. They had several great exhibits. Your experience trumps mine, however, 'cause you got to meet the actual artists. Very cool!

What an inspiring day you had Shayla, thanks for sharing. And Travis Little's work is seriously amazing. Wow. I wonder how long it takes him to do one of his paintings.

What impressive artwork--those stained-glass looking pieces, wow--and what lovely artists. No wonder you had a great time. And I loved your outfit, you look beautiful.

Also, the new layout of your blog is really pretty.

I love love love it when I find new artists to explore, so thank you so much for sharing. I just clicked on the last link and was blown away. There was one painting in particular of a girl sitting outside that I just couldn't believe wasn't a photograph. Sounds like you had a fab day out. I'm really loving your headpiece too. You would just love my friend Babs - she owns a shop called Drop Dead Gorgeous and makes hats and hair pieces which she sells there too.

I so appreciate that you said my latest painting reminds you of Pop Surrealism, that is exactly what I was going for! :) I have been looking at a lot of that latey. I use acrylics for all of my paintings.

I hope you have a great week! ~Lauren

I'm a huge fan of art and browsing art shows. This looks like such a great one. Those statues (?) are kind of weird, but I'm loving Finger Paintings and the Mallory Marty works. You look fab in the lace and pearls (and of course the fascinator) by the way :)

Ah, this does look like fun, getting to mingle with all the artists. And you look fabulous. Very 1920s-esque. And I love the fascinator!
